The wet acid production technology can process sulfur-containing compounds such as H₂S, SO₂, CS₂ (carbon disulfide), COS, and others. After combustion and/or purification, the sulfur-containing gases enter a converter where SO₂ is oxidized to form SO SO₃ via catalytic action on a vanadium catalyst. The resulting gaseous stream containing SO SO₃ then flows into an acid condenser, where liquid concentrated sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) with a mass fraction of at least 98% is produced. After condensation, the process gas is discharged from the top of the condenser, while the concentrated sulfuric acid is cooled to 40°C and transported for external use.
This equipment system features high thermal energy recovery efficiency. Water-gas or molten salt is used as the heat carrier, enabling the generation of high-quality steam suitable for power generation or heat supply. If stricter emission requirements are imposed on the process gas after condensation, it can undergo advanced environmental treatment to achieve ultra-low emissions.
